Alasdair is Director of the Powertrain Research Centre at University of Nottingham and has over 20 years’ experience in light and heavy-duty engines and fuels. He is currently working with industry partners on advanced traction motors, ultra-fast charged batteries, decarbonised fuels and IC engines, and life cycle analysis-led design and manufacturing.

His early career involved 10 years with engineering consultancy Cosworth Technology/MAHLE Powertrain, managing large collaborative R&D programmes. He has since successfully led over 25 EPSRC, Innovate UK, Advanced Propulsion Centre and directly funded projects in his field with global industry partners. He has over 100 related publications, with recent relevant outputs covering jet ignition and dual fuel heavy duty engines.

He has previously received prizes for related research from both the IMechE and SAE International.
